BIO PRINT
Dr. Charles Hartzog Jr. was born and raised in Hartford, Alabama. He received a Bachelor of Science Degree in mathematics/biology from Birmingham-Southern College in 1987, graduating summa cum laude and ranking number one in his class. He then entered medical school at the University of Alabama School of Medicine (In Birmingham) where he received his Doctor of Medicine degree in 1991.

Dr. Hartzog’s professional training in orthopaedic surgery includes a five-year orthopaedic surgery residency at Tulane University in New Orleans, Louisiana, which he finished in 1996. He then completed a fellowship (extra year of specialty training) in arthroscopic surgery and sports medicine at the Mississippi Sports Medicine and Orthopaedic Center in Jackson, Mississippi in 1997. Dr. Hartzog has published numerous articles and book chapters on knee, shoulder and elbow pathology. He serves as a clinical instructor for Mitek Sports Medicine products and the Arthroscopy Association of North American, as well as Medical Director of the Jackson Hospital Sports Medicine On Call Program. He is Board Certified in orthopaedic surgery and has a special interest in shoulder, knee, elbow, and wrist surgery.
